MANAGEMENT TEAMS INTERNATIONAL

VALIDATION

The test seminars had proved that the exercise was technically sound. The participants all reported favourably on the experience but a volunteer audience with well above average enthusiasm for Management Training (to the extent of giving up weekends to test this new exercise) was hardly a pragmatic test of its real life application. Now to face the hard world of big business. A suitable opportunity arose with British Telecom and the results were very satisfactory. The developers were at this stage, part way through a contract with Philips Electronics to run a series of seminars and agreement was obtained from the management to introduce the new exercise. Apart from minor teething problems, corrected by re-phrasing some of the rules, real benefits were perceived.

A large multi-national that had already arranged for its top managers around the world to attend training seminars in the USA in groups of 24, asked that the exercise be developed to cater for six teams. This was done progressively with a five team version tested in Iceland and then a six team version tested in France.

The developers now regularly run this exercise for the Strategic Leadership course directed by Professor Sir Douglas Hague. This course is held twice yearly at Templeton College, Oxford and annually in Australia.

Other regular clients include the Institute of Directors and Institute of Manpower Studies.
